Brickworks Limited is Australia’s best building products group. With a seriously impressive track record in product supply, property development and land investment, they were ready to expand their team in line with huge growth plans.
To achieve the dream, they needed a number of highly skilled professionals to emigrate to Australia to help develop and grow their leading group of building product companies.
The Challenge
It’s clear to see why Brickworks Australia is leading the way. They certainly knew their stuff, though struggled to find the highly skilled trade professionals they needed to keep up with the growing demand for their services.
Rising salaries, ever-increasing workloads and not to mention the extreme weather conditions made recruiting experienced talent in Australia an almost impossible task.
We understood the ideal professionals Brickworks had in mind. English speaking, highly knowledgeable and expertly skilled trade people with exceptional customer service skills and a confidence in liaising with clients. These brand ambassadors would springboard their position as a market leader, so a perfect match for the brand was crucial.
The Approach
We spent plenty of time with the hiring managers to get fully immersed in the culture of the business and gain an insight into what the perfect Brickworks candidate is made of. Once we knew who we were looking for, we created a series of creative, engaging job descriptions and specs to ensure all key competencies were covered.
The process had to be slick, thorough and efficient. They needed top calibre professionals, and they needed them quickly. So, we executed a seamless screening process to ensure that all successful candidates had the skills, attitude and the green light that allowed them to live and work in Australia.
Our digital recruitment campaigns were meticulously targeted, well-researched and delivered across multiple online platforms including trade publications, social media and online job boards. To strengthen our search, we teamed up with a number of builders merchants and roofing suppliers on a national level, to distribute marketing material for our very own ‘Working Down Under’ open day session.
Candidates that cut the high-quality criteria during our rigorous screening process were invited to an open session with the team from Brickworks Australia.
The Result
We kickstarted a new career Down Under for twenty eight skilled professionals. This allowed Brickworks to complete a number of building projects that had come to a stand-still and further, plan for additional projects over the next 5 years. With the right team in place, they really could start to grow from within.
The Impact
Brickworks was back on a winning streak. Delayed projects were swiftly completed, and the group’s expansion plans were set into full force. We’d laid the foundations for Brickworks to build a leading team of hands-on professionals.
